To Whom It May Concern:

Keep is simple.

Those words ring true in today's economic picture. We are all battening down, for the time being, trying to manage our budgets.

But when you think about it, now may be the most important time to consider donating to help people with a legitimate need.

That is where the Park City Regatta, a successful contributor to the SWIM Across the Sound, comes in. We were overwhelmed at the generosity of our sponsors last year. We had the most vibrant year for our Regatta and were able to contribute over $15,000 to a cause where every dime we gave, went to help someone who really needed it. It is important to remember that costs for running SWIM Across the Sound events are covered by
St. Vincent's Hospital and that donations are saved for real people with real needs.

One example:  There is a young mother whose 9-year-old daughter is fighting cancer and currently undergoing chemotherapy. As if that isn’t hard enough, this mom works for a local hospital and, as with most workers in the health care field, she is obligated to go to work.  After her daughter receives chemotherapy treatments, she has no choice but to miss days of work to care for her daughter, who suffers serious side effects from the chemo.  This young mother contacted the SWIM asking for assistance.  The SWIM now provides a sitter to stay with the daughter so that her mother can go to work.

We know that it’s a tough time financially for many people, but think of those who have been hit hard by the economy and who were already having trouble caring for themselves or their loved ones with cancer.

Monetary donations may be made through our website, www.ParkCityRegatta.org, using PayPal®, or by sending a check made payable to “SWIM Across the Sound” to Fayerweather Yacht Club, c/o Betsy Sorensen, 51 Brewster St., Bridgeport, CT  06605.  All donations are tax deductible.  For other types of donations or questions, please contact Betsy Sorensen directly at 203-261-1350.

Please consider a donation the SWIM Across the Sound - every dollar helps.

Thank you,
